Ayurvedic Treatment

Food is Medicine

One fundamental treatment offered by Ayurveda is making food be medicine. Finding a balance of flavour and nutrition. Ayurveda teaches how food affects our individual constitution and uses food to manage the imbalance, alleviate illness using a natural wholesome dietary regimen.

Ayurvedic Massage

Massage is known for its great benefits. In Ayurveda, a massage is a form of external purification therapy. Abhyanga is the application of oil using different Ayurvedic massage techniques to promote circulation and facilitate absorption of other medicinal treatments.

Shirodhara, the gentle pouring of oil in the forehead or the eye chakra point is a very good therapy to relieve stress and tension. It induces peace and calmness.

Herbal Remedy

Ayurveda holds a deep understanding of the action and effects of medicinal herbs that are determined by its taste, potency, post-digestive effect, and its unique special quality.

“ Using Ayurveda and an open heart, we have the ability to ease someone's suffering.”

– Dr. Deepika Rodrigo

“ Ayurveda is not just about nutrition or herbology, it has a unique tool for diagnosis, diagnosis of understanding the human constitution is different from person to person. Each one has a unique metabolic system.”

– Maya Tiwari

“ The greatest medicine of all is to teach people how not to need it.”

– Sushruta

Rea is a qualified Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Nutrition counsellor and an Ayurvedic therapist, she runs Kahlmah an Ayurvedic Health and Wellness clinic based in Aberdeen. She also finished a degree in Nursing with over 10 years of experience working as a nurse in various specialities in the UK. In her years working within allopathic medicine, she felt the system is lacking in its way that is focused on treating the symptoms without a full understanding of the individual as a whole. She is also a great believer in prevention being the best cure. With her growing passion for offering a more holistic approach to health and natural ways to alleviate suffering from dis-ease, her path lead her to The Ayurvedic Institute UK in London where she completed her Ayurvedic studies.

Having been taught and trained by the renowned Dr Deepika Rodrigo and the well experienced Dr Wathsala Wijesinghe she aims to live a purposeful life by using her energy, skills, and growing knowledge of Ayurveda to be of service to all.
