Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a classic Ayurvedic treatment that involves pouring of oil to the forehead. The word Shirodhara is composed of two sanskrit words “shiro” (head) and “dhara” (flow). This treatments focus is the shoulders, neck, face and head. These areas are the most vulnerable to stress and tension. The continuous pouring of oil aimed at the eye chakra which is the seat of consciousness and all sense organs, induces ease, and a state of calm.

Shirodhara is a highly recommended treatment for people experiencing high levels of stress, insomnia, anxiety, and Vata imbalances. It is best to have with a full body Abhyanga marma massage but can also be enjoyed as a stand alone treatment.

Shirodhara as a stand alone treatment takes about 1 hour. Starting with upper back and shoulder massage, the pouring of oil will then follow once instructed to lie on your back. Finishing off with a head and face massage.
